Our Programs

Sarasota Bay is an estuary where freshwater from creeks and rivers mixes with salt water from the Gulf of Mexico. Our sheltered bay provides nurseries and habitats for thousands of species of wildlife. Located on Florida's fast-growing southwest coast, Sarasota Bay is also the center of a community of more than a half-million people.

Wildlife and humans depend on estuaries for different reasons. The Sarasota Bay Estuary Program's goals are to balance human and wildlife uses and to identify opportunities to retain natural functions as our community continues to grow and change.
