Nature’s Academy Supports Prine Elementary School

Nature’s Academy completed a SBEP Bay Partners Grant as part of their Island Adventures Program targeting fifth graders in Manatee County as well as additional students in Pinellas County. The program involves a nature walk in the field, seagrass ecology dip netting, learning about water quality, a coastal clean-up project, and conservation projects that enable the students to share the things they are learning with other students, teachers and community members. These photos showcase students from Prine Elementary School in Manatee County. Dana Pounds with Nature’s Academy indicates that one of her community goals is to provide environmental education to every fifth grader in Manatee and Pinellas County by 2020. Congratulations to everyone that supports the effort to educate and inspire area students about the importance of ecology and Bay stewardship in support of Sarasota Bay. Nature’s Academy is an example of a local business that cares about the environment and education. Photos by Sara Kane and Sara McCutheon.
